Drop-off & Pick-up changes

Changes to drop-off and pickup at Cedarhome
Posted on 08/25/2023

Morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up will look different this school year.

This change was made in an effort to create a safer and more efficient system for families and students — and modeled after successful systems at other area elementary schools.

In short, families dropping off and picking up from their vehicles will now use the main turnaround in front of the building. Families who park and walk a child to the building will use the lot to the north of the building.

We ask for your cooperation as we all learn and adapt to this new system, which we feel will be safer, quicker, and reduce congestion on area streets for other traffic and students walking home.

Details about morning drop-off

Drop-off from car: Please enter and exit from entrance No. 1 on the map, located south of the four-way intersection. Stay in one lane if you are planning to drop your child off from your car. At 8:40 a.m., when you see a staff member exit the front doors, you can begin to let your child out of your car. Please, for student safety, don’t go around the left of the car in front of you. Instead, please wait for the car in front of you to proceed forward.

Park and walk up with your child: Please enter and exit from entrance No. 2 on the map, from the four-way intersection. Park in a parking spot and use the crosswalk to cross between the district transportation vehicles. Do not pull up or park along the curb as that area is needed for buses.

Afternoon Pickup

Student Pickup from car: Please enter and exit from entrance No. 1 on the map, located south of the four-way intersection. There will be four lanes. Please park in lane one until full. Then begin filling lane two, then three, then four. We will load lane one with students, and then will let that lane leave. We will then fill lane two, and then will let that lane leave. And so on.

Park and walk up to receive your child: Please enter and exit from entrance No. 2 on the map, from the four-way intersection. Please notice the arrows on the map showing a counter-clockwise direction for driving around this loop. Park in a parking spot and use the crosswalk to cross between the district transportation. Do not pull up or park along the curb as that area is needed for buses.

Walkers: Please meet your child at our flagpole if you are meeting them to walk home. We ask that dogs do not come on school grounds during drop-off and pick-up as this is a busy and congested time.

Kindergarten

All kindergarten families will meet their child near the swings on our playground.
